Southern Living Once Again Lists BG As One of the "South's Best Cities On The Rise"

Southern Living announced the results of their annual, reader-selected listicle for the “South’s Best Cities on the Rise 2024” where Bowling Green placed seventh out of 25 cities. This is the second time Bowling Green has made headlines as a “South’s Best Cities on the Rise” with Southern Living, a leading regional media outlet specializing in southern culture, traditions and stories.

The publication praises Bowling Green for its innovation in manufacturing and infrastructure, and the article noted the upcoming riverfront property which includes plans for an adventure park, hotel, brewery and restaurant. Bowling Green is included among several top tourism destinations such as Franklin, Tennessee; Palm Bay, Florida and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

“The designation from Southern Living showcases Bowling Green’s strength as a tourist destination and we’re honored to receive the accolade,” said Sherry Murphy, executive director of Visit BGKY. “It comes on the heels of a different award highlighting Bowling Green’s ongoing success in economic development. While separate, both awards bear witness to Bowling Green’s trajectory as a must-see location in the Commonwealth and beyond.”

This is not the first time Bowling Green has appeared in headlines from a toptier media outlet. Last year, Bowling Green received recognition from Garden & Gun, Parent’s Magazine, Men’s Journal, Fodor’s Travel, Style Blueprint and more. National exposure is part of Visit BGKY’s strategic communication plan to increase awareness and drive visits to the city and county.
