The Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced two new additions to their full-time staff. Mitchell Rabold-Pearson has joined the bureau as the new Group and Motorsports Sales Director and Damion Wheeler has joined as the new Sports Director. Both employees bring an important and diverse set of skills to the experienced team of staffers who help support tourism efforts for the city and county.
Rabold-Pearson joins Visit BGKY from the National Corvette Museum, where he served as the senior tourism manager and specialized in group sales for the attraction. While he is new to the Visit BGKY office, he is no stranger to the world of tourism. Rabold-Pearson also served as executive director for two tourism commissions while living in Eastern Kentucky.
“I’ve dedicated my entire career to Kentucky tourism, starting as early as age 16, and it’s only fitting that I transition into a role with the Bowling Green Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. My passion is also community service, so I’m thrilled to take on a role that allows for both interests while also servicing the city and county,” said Rabold-Pearson.
Wheeler joins Visit BGKY from Atmos Energy where he specialized in day-to-day operations for six years. Outside of his typical workday, Wheeler puts his recreation administration degree from Western Kentucky University to use through th officiation of high school and women’s college basketball.
“Sports tourism offers a unique way to experience different cultures while helping visitors create memorable experiences. I’m looking forward to promoting the Bowling Green and Warren County area as a premier destination to host sporting events while also helping to boost our local economy,” said Wheeler.
Rabold-Pearson and Wheeler join a decorated staff with collective decades of tourism experience. Further, the hiring comes on the heels of a record-breaking tourism year where their talents will continue to elevate Bowling Green and Warren County as a premier visitor destination for competitive sports, group and motorsports activities.
