Joshua Heffinger Choseen as KY CASA Network 2018 Board Member of the Year

Bowling Green, KY - CASA of South Central KY, Inc. (CASA of SCK) is pleased to announce that Joshua Heffinger has been selected as the statewide 2018 Board Member of the Year by the KY CASA Network (KCN).

This marks the first time in the agency’s 19 years that the CASA of SCK has received this most prestigious award. The award was presented during the KY CASA Network’s Annual Conference in Louisville on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

Joshua joined the Board of Directors of CASA of South Central KY in 2011 when he was working as a Senior Accountant at BKD, LLP in Bowling Green, KY. After leaving BKD in April 2013 for a position with Essity (formerly SCA Personal Care) as a Unit Controller and now a Financial Planning & Reporting Analyst, he continued his service on the CASA of South Central Board of Directors serving as the Treasurer for 4 years and is currently serving as the President.

“I knew CASA was an organization I wanted to be involved with after going to one of their Justice Served Luncheons. I could see the real impact the organization was making for vulnerable children,” admits Heffinger. “I have had the pleasure of getting to see some great momentum and growth over the last 7 years, but I know we still have a long way to go to reach all the children who need a CASA’s voice.”

Along with his service to CASA, Heffinger also participates with team activities with his Essity coworkers, has participated in Relay for Life as a Team Captain, and recently started a nonprofit with his wife, Jessica, called Glory Baby. They take donated wedding and formal gowns and turn them into gowns for stillbirths and infant loss.

“Josh is a true leader on our CASA board. I have had the pleasure of serving with him on the board for 3 years, and he has been in a leadership role of some kind since I joined. He dedicates more of his to the CASA mission than he should, but that shows me his passion is truly with the children and the program he serves. Our CASA program would not be the same without Josh. He meets all criteria for a board member of the year,” said Claude Badgett, CASA of SCK Board Member since 2015.

“Josh has been invaluable to me as a new Director to our organization. His knowledge of the administrative aspect coupled with the passion for the mission are unmatched. We are lucky to have a Board President who has the vision and energy to want our organization to grow and serve more children,” said Jana Sublett, Executive Director of CASA of SCK
