Med Center at BG Receives "Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure" Silver Plus and Target: Heart Failure Awards



If you live with heart failure, it’s comforting to know Med Center Health’s flagship hospital, The Medical Center at Bowling Green, has been recognized as a top provider of care by the American Heart Association. The Medical Center has received the AHA’s Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award and the Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll. The Medical Center is one of five hospitals in Kentucky to receive a Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure award.

These awards recognize the hospital’s commitment to ensuring heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines founded in the latest scientific evidence. The Medical Center is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and quality of life as well as reducing the need for emergency department visits and hospital readmissions.

“Our goal,” said Jacqueline Dawson Dowe, MD, FACC, cardiologist with Western Kentucky Heart, Lung & Gastroenterology and Chair of The Medical Center’s Heart Failure Workgroup, “is to implement a higher standard of care for both inpatients and outpatients by ensuring that every heart failure patient receives treatment that meets or exceeds nationally-accepted recommendations and standards. We also strive to create even more potential for improved patient outcomes by adding additional guideline-based steps for patient care.”
