Grand Opening of New Instructional Complex

Story and photography by Billie Wilson

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College celebrated the opening of a $22 million building that features a new library and separate wings devoted to allied health and science, technology, engineering and math careers. The building also brings dining services to campus for the first time. Administration, faculty, staff and students are excited about the opening of Steamer Café with lots of great food options. The café wall is bright and inviting as you enter and enjoy the art of David Jones.

The building totals 72,000 square feet. An entire wing on the second floor is devoted to allied health professions with “simulation rooms” mirroring medical facilities. Another wing features labs and classrooms that will help the college develop an engineering pipeline to Western Kentucky University where students can finish their degrees.
