Leading Ladies: Clarissa Smith, Alli Rice, Rachel Waters

For decades, Ford’s Furniture has served as a cornerstone of comfort and timeless style in South Central Kentucky. Behind the showroom doors, a dynamic team of women combines deep design heritage, creative innovation and dedicated operational care to make every client’s home feel complete. At the heart of the design team is Buyer and Designer Clarissa Smith, who brings 22 years of experience to Ford’s. Educated at David Lipscomb University and Western Kentucky University, Clarissa discovered her passion for interior decorating at a young age. Her extensive portfolio includes decorating Parade Homes in Fountain Trace and Covington Grove alongside major commercial projects like Chandler Park, Chandler Assisted Living, Hospice, banks and medical offices. “To make a customer’s nesting area every-thing they want it to be or I have not done my job,” Clarissa says. “Success comes from building strong relationships, leading by example and showing kindness at the end of the day. ”Building on that rich foundation is Interior Designer and Sales Associate Alli Rice. After initially starting in nursing, she earned her degree in Interior Design from Western Kentucky University in 2025. She transitioned from design intern under Clarissa to a full-time role, where she helps clients select furnishings, custom fabrics and room layouts while managing Ford’s social media platforms. Inspired by her mentor and mom to lead with kindness, Alli focuses on making genuine connections. “My mission is to make a positive difference by leading with kindness and building real connections,” Alli says. “Strong leadership comes from listening to your team so real growth can take place.” Ensuring every visitor experiences the store’s signature warmth is Office Manager Rachel Waters. A Butler County native who moved to Bowling Green in 2017, Rachel has spent five and a half years cultivating the welcoming, family first atmosphere that defines Ford’s. She manages daily office operations and ensures every client feels the same warm welcome she received. Together, Clarissa, Alli and Rachel bring heart, talent and mentorship to one of Bowling Green’s most cherished local businesses, helping clients create beautiful, functional spaces for every season of life.
