Leading Ladies: Jenny Van Buren

Story by Amelia Bowen

When Jenny Van Buren felt stuck in a career that no longer fulfilled her, she decided to take matters into her own hands. Guided by a favorite Dolly Parton principle to pave a new road when you do not like the one you are walking, the Lebanon, Tennessee native made a complete change. Armed with a biology degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a lifelong passion for healthcare, she reached out directly to the leadership at Timesavers Caregiving & Concierge. That proactive phone call opened the door to a career that aligned perfectly with her values. Stepping into senior care meant entering an entirely new industry, but Jenny threw herself into learning every detail of client care and community outreach. Today, as Client Care Coordinator, she meets with families to navigate homecare options, matches clients with dedicated caregivers and maintains key community partnerships across Bowling Green. “What I love most about my job is the chance to educate our community on the options older adults have available,” Jenny says. “Getting to see how caregiving can drastically change an older adult’s physical and mental health makes every hour worth it.” Her approach to leadership comes straight from her mother, whose unmatched work ethic and commitment to integrity set the standard for how Jenny handles business today. She learned early on that commercial success should never come at the expense of personal morals or doing what is right. To Jenny, strong leadership comes down to supporting your team while keeping company goals on track. That focus on people extends to her extensive community involvement in Bowling Green, a city she fell in love with because of its willingness to step up whenever neighbors are in need. Jenny actively supports the Rotary Club of Bowling Green, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s with the Alzheimer’s Association and the Homecare Association of America. Through Timesavers, she coordinates Stockings 4 Seniors to provide essentials to older adults through the Salvation Army each holiday season. She also works closely with the Bowling Green Firefighters Association to support their annual Fireman’s Ball, raising funds for initiatives like Shop with a Firefighter and Thanksgiving delivery baskets. To handle a busy career centered on community care, Jenny makes time to recharge. While she loves connecting with people throughout her workday, the self described introverted extrovert relies on quiet downtime at home with her dogs and a good book. Whether she is hosting a game night with friends or enjoying cocktails on the patio at Hickory & Oak, she stays focused on honest service and meaningful relationships. “No matter what you do in life, do it honestly,” Jenny says. “People can tend to put their ambitions above their morals and integrity, but you do not have to. It may not always be easy, but it is honest.”
