Leading Ladies: Julie Rose Miller

A summer job on a golf course in Aspen, Colorado, hardly seemed like the launch pad for a career in wealth management, but it turned out to be the start of an unexpected path. After graduating from college, the Louisville native headed west to teach skiing in the winters and work at a local golf course during the summers. Between holes and tee times, Julie struck up conversations with people from all walks of life. One of those casual chats led to an introduction at Bernstein Private Wealth Management in Los Angeles, opening up a financial world she had never considered. Today, Julie serves as a Financial Advisor for Monticello Wealth Management a financial practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC located at Monticello Bank branches. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®, she provides comprehensive wealth planning and specialized advisory services. “I love using both sides of my brain, the social side and the analytical numbers side,” Julie says. “Every client comes in with a totally different story, and my favorite part of the job is taking their big goals and building a simple, real-world plan to get them there. ”Getting established meant grinding through licensing exams and overcoming imposter syndrome. The turning point came when Julie realized just how much her guidance was helping families secure their financial future. Having navigated her early career without many female mentors, she is now passionate about teaching financial literacy and encouraging young women to step up in fields where they might still be outnumbered. “Don’t be afraid to try something even if you are the only woman doing it,” Julie says. “There are several times that I have been the only woman in the room.” That belief drives how she lives every day, proving that warmth and sharp business skills go hand in hand. Outside of work, Julie stays balanced with her husband Anthony and their two dogs, whether playing tennis, catching up over espresso martinis or hosting weekend brunch.
