Bowling Green’s 40 Under 40: Barrett Metzger

Story by Amelia Bowen

Growing up immersed in the wealth management world, Barrett Metzger understood early on that true financial leadership is built on trust, integrity and deep personal connection. Watching his father navigate over four decades of industry shifts provided Barrett an insider seat to what genuine stewardship looks like. Today, as Senior Vice President with Baird Private Wealth Management and a key leader within The Foutch Metzger Group, the Louisville native and Colgate University graduate has dedicated his career to helping families, business owners, and community organizations build and preserve generational wealth. That early foundation taught Barrett that serving people requires keeping client interests at the forefront of every decision. It is a philosophy he brings to Baird’s Next Generation Advisory Council, where he collaborates with advisors nationwide to elevate industry standards. Barrett approaches long term growth with a clear perspective, living by the principle that “success has a snowball effect, where good outcomes start small and compound in a fast way.” Driven to see his region thrive, Barrett channels that same commitment into civic leadership through board roles with the Barren County Family YMCA and the TJ Community Mission Foundation, where supporting the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home holds deep personal meaning. Outside the office, Barrett and his wife Rachel, an emergency medicine physician, stay grounded through family life with their two young children, Quinn and Reid, building a life rooted in service and community impact.
