Leading Ladies: Dr. Madison Galloway and Dr. Mandy Ashley
Story by Amelia Bowen
Thirteen years ago, Dr. Mandy Ashley started SKY Pediatric Dentistry from her kitchen table. Today, what began as a vision has grown into a premier regional practice with offices in Bowling Green, Glasgow, Hopkinsville and Goodlettsville, led by Dr. Mandy alongside Dr. Madison Galloway. Together, the two pediatric dentists have built SKY around a shared goal: providing high-quality dental care in an environment where children and adults with special healthcare needs can feel comfortable, understood and even excited to visit the dentist. “SKY Pediatric Dentistry strives to serve children and families in the most gentle and fun way possible,” Dr. Madison says. “We have multiple kid-driven areas where we can examine children’s teeth, as well as dedicated sensory rooms to decrease stimulation for our patients with special healthcare needs.” That individualized approach extends throughout every corner of the practice. Dr. Mandy is especially proud that SKY’s culturally diverse staff reflects the vibrant communities it serves, allowing the team to communicate with many young patients in their native languages. “I love being able to provide dental care in a child’s own language,” Dr. Mandy says. “We love that many kids laugh and feel genuinely happy during their dental appointments.” Making dentistry fun is also an opportunity to build healthy habits that last a lifetime. “I want kids to get excited about brushing and flossing so they can have the absolute best chance at a lifetime of healthy smiles,” Dr. Mandy says. As SKY has expanded, Dr. Mandy and Dr. Madison have built a supportive workplace behind the scenes. Leading a team made up largely of women and working mothers adds a deeply meaningful dimension to their business success. Both doctors draw their drive from the remarkable women in their own lives: Dr. Mandy credits her youngest sister, Paige Schmidt, for showing her what it means to be a true go-getter, while Dr. Madison points to her mother, Debbie Myers, as her ultimate example of hard work, compassion and integrity. “One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of as a woman in business is our ability to create stable, fulfilling jobs for other women and mothers,” Dr. Madison says. “Family is incredibly important to us, and it brings me great pride that many of our staff members are moms as well.” Beyond clinic doors, both doctors remain deeply invested in community leadership. Dr. Mandy mentors emerging dental professionals, while Dr. Madison prioritizes local outreach. SKY routinely provides free school dental screenings at Lovers Lane Soccer Complex and visits local classrooms and community facilities to teach early oral health prevention. At its core, SKY Pediatric Dentistry is about caring for people, whether that means easing a nervous child in the dental chair, supporting a working mother on staff or making dental education accessible across Southern Kentucky and Northern Tennessee.
