If you’ve been looking for the perfect place to take a jog or walk, go on a bicycle ride with the family, or even inline skate, the NCM Motorsports Park is opening the track on Tuesday evenings for “Trek @ the Track”. The 3.15 mile paved road course plays host to a number of fundraising running and walking events each year, including Monster Dash benefitting Joseph’s Hope, and the Checkered Flag Chase benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association.
The track offers light elevation changes and a number of configurations so that visitors can pick the length of their trek, as well as being wide with adequate space for slow or fast-moving trekkers. A large 22 acre flat paved paddock is also available for anyone doing speed work. The facility offers restrooms, showers, a Michelin inflation station and a picnic area at the Kimberlee A. Fast Pavilion. A second level viewing deck is available at both the Pavilion, as well as in the Holley Control Tower. Plenty of free parking is available, and the track is easy to access from Porter Pike, 505 Grimes Road, off I-65, exit 28.
Pets are also welcome as long as they are on a leash and owners clean up after their animals. Roller blades and roller skates are welcome, but anything motorized is not. Sorry, no skateboards. Skaters and cyclists are required to wear helmets.
