Bowling Green’s 40 Under 40: Lindsey McCarty

Story by Amelia Bowen

By day, Lindsey McCarty leads the Nashville Road branch of American Bank and Trust; by night, she is an abstract artist and writer. That blend of structure and creative intuition defines how she moves through the world. A chance encounter in 2011 brought her from retail into banking, where she discovered that guiding people through financial decisions requires the same empathy, active listening and perspective as creating a piece of art. Fifteen years later, Lindsey leads her team with that human-first approach, balancing consumer lending with a supportive environment for her staff. “I would tell my younger self to not worry what others think,” Lindsey reflects. “Be unique, be weird and enjoy life one day at a time.” Her community impact flows from that same core belief in lifting others up. A Bowling Green native, Lindsey has poured her time into board service with BRASS (Barren River Area Safe Space) and House on the Hill, using her artistic background to chair community initiatives and support local families in crisis. At the heart of everything are her two young daughters, Willow and Rain, who keep life vibrant with concert outings, creative projects and shared adventures. Whether painting at home or grabbing coffee before a busy day at the branch, Lindsey measures success by the genuine connections she builds and the creative world she creates for her girls.
