Local Business Spotlight: Anytime Fitness Nick Atkins
Story by Amelia Bowen
For Nick Atkins, fitness began as a personal transformation in high school, helping him build discipline, routine and a stronger mindset. “Through fitness, I developed discipline, routine and hard work,” he says. “As someone who struggles with depression and anxiety, the gym influenced my mindset for the better. I figured that if it could do that for me, it could do that for many more people.” Now, as owner of Anytime Fitness Bowling Green, Nick is focused on helping others reach their goals. The gym is open 24/7 and offers cardio and strength equipment, free weights, classes and personalized coaching. “The personal touch we intentionally make in club separates us,” Nick says. “We know our members by name and truly care about them. They’re not just members, they’re part of a supportive community.” That community extends beyond the gym. Nick stays involved locally through fundraisers, donations and outreach efforts that support schools and families in need. A Louisville native, he moved to Bowling Green in 2001 to attend WKU and has called it home ever since. In addition to running the gym, he also serves as a career firefighter. “I have a passion for helping others,” Nick says. “Every day is a chance to make a difference.” Nick hopes that commitment is clear to everyone who walks through the doors. “Our gym isn’t like every other gym,” he says. “It’s a place where people feel supported, challenged and welcomed. I’d love for anyone to come see that for themselves.”
