Medical Center EMS Only Service in KY with Both CAAS and IAED Accreditations

Med Center Health’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division has been recognized for outstanding service provided to the citizens of Warren County. Accreditations by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) and the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch® (IAED™) are both gold standards within the industry. Medical Center EMS is the only ambulance service in Kentucky to be accredited by both agencies.

CAAS surveyors consider a number of key standards, including response time, agency management, safe operations, relations with outside agencies, mutual aid and disaster coordination, community education and relations, personnel management and more. CAAS accreditation means Medical Center EMS consistently meets or exceeds the highest expectations of the industry and provides an added level of quality assurance to the community. Medical Center EMS is one of three agencies accredited by CAAS in Kentucky.

“Our EMS service is one of the best in the nation,” said Wade Stone, Executive Vice President of Med Center Health, “and now has been recognized internationally. We are committed to providing our community with the highest level of care, the fastest response times, and the most technologically advanced service possible. I am very proud of the men and women at Medical Center EMS who go above and beyond every day in service to our community.”

In addition to CAAS accreditation, Medical Center EMS has achieved the most prominent distinction in 911 emergency communication services. The Medical Center EMS communication center is the 250th emergency dispatch center in the world to attain IAED status as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) for its use of the Medical Priority Dispatch System™ (MPDS®). This distinction places it among the very highest-performing emergency dispatch agencies worldwide, and it is the only ambulance service in Kentucky with ACE accreditation.

As an ACE agency, Medical Center EMS provides superior, industry best practices in public safety and employs efficient use of resources when handling all emergency call situations. Accreditation is based on the IEAD’s rigorous Twenty Points of Accreditation. In order to achieve accreditation, agencies must meet or exceed all twenty points of accreditation, which requires participation from the department head to the individual emergency dispatcher.
