Cathy and Rodney Adams

Nothing says Christmas like a Nativity scene and Cathy Adams decorates with one in every room, including a set her mother always put out, to inspire the reason for the season. To add to the collection, her oldest has started giving her nativity scenes from different countries.

Spending time together to the Adams is the most important thing, and Cathy has always loved hosting Christmas, but as the kids have gotten older, and now they have several grandchildren, it can be difficult to get everyone together. Many times they celebrate on the 23rd and celebrate their son’s birthday which is the same day, along with two other birthdays in December. The Adams have two sons, Tyson and Travis, and daughter Katelynn, along with their spouses and four grandchildren. Occasionally Cathy’s mom and her husband are able to join the festivities and at time the children’s in laws visit, and even dear family friends sometimes come by. Cathy opens their home to welcome everyone!

Regardless of the date, one thing for sure is that Rodney will make his pretzel mix, by the gallons, for everyone to enjoy. They also enjoy the tradition of reading The Night Before Christmas to the children. One year Cathy bought the grown children matching pajamas and they were considerate enough to wear them - at least for one year!

Cathy still recalls the first ham she ever baked using her mother in laws recipe. She put too much coke in the pan and it had so much juice it came running out of the pan, out of the oven, and onto the floor. The floor was covered with a film of grease, which she did not notice until late at night when she went to check on it and hit the grease, flew in the air, and hit the floor. Cathy learned her lesson and has been perfecting the ham every since!
