Family Living

Home, n. – a place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. But the true meaning of a home is an enjoyable, happy place where you can live, laugh and learn, where you are loved, respected, and cared for. The new development out Scottsville Road, Poplar Grove, was created with families in mind, and showcased home #7 built by Bennie Jones Constructions in the 2019 Builders Association of South Central Kentucky’s Parade of Homes.

The team at Embellish Home had the pleasure to work with Bennie Jones Construction and Laura Jones on furnishing and decorating this spec home with a young family in mind. “We walked the home and got a feel for the future family who may live here.

We first picked out the rug for the living room with soft blues to match the wonderful wall colors, which became the inspiration for the design,” said Lisa Marshall with Embellish. The living room space showcases that you can incorporate a lot of seating in a smaller space without it feeling crowded. The blue velvet couch is a performance fabric, perfect for children, yet very stylish, complimented by two adorable stiped swivel chairs, making for a casual and comfortable hub for the home.

The breakfast nook, open to both the kitchen and living room, has a coastal vibe, playing off the soft blues, with chairs that have a tiki bar feel. The dining room however, had a more dramatic appeal, with dark grey walls and ornate wood paneling so the furniture and accessories were kept light with a wooden pine reclaimed table and upholstered chairs. A mirrored cabinet and gold mirror with glass lamps are a focal point which can be seen from the front doors.

Nestled at the back of the home, is the master suite, furnished with a four poster bed and contemporary art mixed with traditional pieces and richer blues. During the parade the entire bedroom suite of furniture and accessories was a favorite, being purchased after right out of the house! Upstairs are two bedrooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom and a large bonus room.

One room was staged as a guest bedroom with coastal bedding of white and blue mixed with contemporary nightstands. The other room was furnished for an adorable nursery, catering to a real family feel and those future buyers into the neighborhood. The nursery incorporates a bohemian, gender neutral vibe in grey and white with pops of pink and brown. The walls are adorned with unique prints of animals above the crib with a must-have swivel glider and grey and white wood changing table. The bonus room upstairs had room for a small sectional along with three side sitting chairs, and a small area for a desk. Neutral furniture was used with soft blues and greens added as accents with a leather statement chair.

Lisa and Natalie at Embellish Home loved being at the Parade Home during the weekend and meeting new people while showcasing their work and available products. “We’re part of the Home Builders Association and just love the energy the parade brings each year to building and design and are so happy to be a part of it,” said Lisa. “We always love showcasing what we offer to homeowners, but also to designers. We love to have interior designers work with us to source their great ideas, especially since we offer a storefront they can browse with their clients and gather ideas, feel upholstery, and design their dream home together.”

Embellish has some fun things planned for the holidays starting with a holiday open house on November 8th and 9th with specials on holiday décor and gift ideas. They’ll also be hosting one or more Christmas decorating workshop and women’s “Sip and Shop” event where guests can prepare a wish list for their husbands or loved ones to be sent out by Embellish for them! To join in on the fun or just to shop some of the trends from the parade, you can visit the ladies of Embellish Home at their store located at 901 Lehman Avenue or online at www.embellish-home.com.
