What an amazing array of activities our Bowling Green community offers to our children with enrichment camps of all kinds! Summer doesn’t have to be a time to regress, but instead can be a time to inspire, unplug and recharge, and illuminate the possibilities for their futures. The Arts

ARTS ALIVE TEEN CAMP
Arts Alive! Teen Extreme Camp is a fun and challenging camp that’s purpose is to impassion, equip, and train the Christian leaders of tomorrow. Through group Bible studies, team challenges, theatrical exercises and performance, and outreach events, students are impelled to discover, increase and apply their talents and gifts for kingdom purposes and for the greater glory of God. Keeping the roster small allows us to identify and encourage each individual student’s gifts and help them improve in areas where they are weaker. Ages 13-18. ARTS ALIVE CHRISTIAN THEATRE CAMP
Our full day camp for tweens gives them more opportunity to experience the world of theatre, explore God’s truths, and find their own confidence and voice! A challenging class for both new and experienced performers, our camp includes a blend of theatre games, physical and mental challenges, Bible studies, worship, and production of a short play – complete with costumes, props, set, makeup, lights and sound – and everything in just 5 days. ARTS ALIVE CHRISTIAN THEATRE CAMP
Youth ages 6-8 will meet half days Monday through Friday to explore he world of the stage. Throughout the week they will discover the magic of theatre while rehearsing, building a set, and finally presenting a short play with a Christian theme. Instruction for this age group focuses on building confidence, stage presence, and public speaking skills, as well as the art of developing a character and portraying it on stage. ARTS ALIVE LITTLE STARS CAMP
The “Little Stars” get their own chance to experience life in the spotlight. It takes a lot of courage just to stand up in front of a crowd but we want young people to know that it is Christ who gives us strength to face our fears. While building confidence through theatrical games and fun, the “Little Stars” campers will rehearse a short play, paint a set, put together a costume and perform for family and friends at the end of the day. KENTUCKY MUSEUM SUMMER CAMP
The Kentucky Museum is offering two weeks of summer camp in June. June 3-7 and June 10-14 from 8:30am-Noon. Ages 6-12. June 3-7 is Hand building with clay. Get your hands dirty learning hand building techniques to create functional and decorative pieces. Children will make and glaze pottery which will be fired after camp. Parents will pick up their children’s pottery at a later date. June 10-14 is the Art of Drawing. We will teach students basic drawing techniques. They will use various drawing instruments like pencil, charcoal, ink and pastel while working on different types of papers and boards.

From arts and crafts to theatre and dance, there’s something for campers of all ages at SkyPAC.

Rick Stansbury Basketball Camps offer an opportunity for players to receive valuable instruction on the fundamental skills of basketball. Campers will be made aware of the characteristics that define successful players. Organized games between campers will provide a competitive outlet after specific drills have been practiced. Contests built into drills capture the learner’s attention, which results in attentive practice. Drill progressions will be aimed toward recognizing and developing good habits in all aspects of the game. SCATS
The summer camp for academically talented middle school students. A two-week camp, SCATS offers high-ability students who have finished grades 6-8 a unique learning environment to explore new ideas, develop concepts, make friends and share experiences. Students may choose the residential or nonresidential option. SCATS class offerings change each year but always range from the arts and humanities to mathematics and sciences. VAMPY
The summer program for verbally and mathematically precocious youth. A three-week residential camp, VAMPY offers high-ability students who have finished grades 7-10 the chance to focus on one course during six class hours each weekday plus a nightly hour-long study hall. Classes are taught by highly motivated WKU faculty and area high school teachers who are thrilled to have equally highly motivated students.  When not in class, campers participate in a wide range of activities that bring them together as a community.

WKU SUMMER FORENSIC INSTITUTE
At the end of WKU’S nine-day speech and debate camp, a student will have most or all of a performance ready to compete. More importantly the student will also have gained the knowledge to prepare that event on their own or help others. That is what makes the WKU SFI different. We work hard at this camp. Debaters will learn the methods of argumentation, orators will research and write their own speeches, and interpers will select from our extensive library and build a performance from scratch. High school students from Kentucky and throughout the nation come to learn and practice journalism at WKU’s Xposure Journalism Workshop, now in its 36th year. Students who participate in Xposure show an interest in journalism and come to the workshops from a variety of backgrounds, including those under-represented in US Newsrooms. The 12 students selected stay on campus and work in the state-of-the-art newsroom of the award-winning College Heights Herald and WKUHerald.com, Talisman magazine and WKUTalisman.com and Cherry Creative. Our day camp allows campers to experience positive group interactions in a safe environment. We give campers the opportunity to develop teamwork skills, experience fun adventures, and create new lasting friendships through arts and crafts, daily recreational activities, special events, sports as well as field trips. Large and small groups and personal time with God all take place in an ideal setting. These campers will combine their faith will all the activities camp has to offer, such as kayaking and canoeing on the river, rappelling, Jacob’s ladder, giant swing, vertical playground, zip line, low elements, team building games, campfires, skits and tons more. CAMP HENDON
Camp Hendon provides a great opportunity for children with diabetes to get to know others who face the same challenges. Camp Hendon provides children the chance to meet and learn from adult counselors with diabetes who have gone through many of the same things the campers are experiencing and can share the ways they coped with the chores of having diabetes. Campers discover that for one week during the summer that they aren’t the only one in the world who has to prick their fingers, test their blood sugar and count their carbs. Getting three to four insulin shots is an everyday occurrence that no one thinks twice about. These children must do this every day of their life, yet at camp, so do all of their friends and den mates. Ages 8-17. June 30-July 5 at Camp Loucon, Leitchfield, KY or July 14-19 at Aldersgate Camp, Ravenna, KY. $550.

JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY
The Bowling Green Police Department sponsors a three-day Junior Police Academy each summer. Students receive hands-on instruction on basic introduction to criminal law and police procedures, personal and traffic safety, special guest speakers (K-9, motorcycle and bicycle officers, critical response team, traffic & patrol officers, detectives and crime scene processors), fingerprinting and crime scene investigation, and a tour of the Warren county regional jail. KENTUCKY STATE POLICE TROOPER ISLAND CAMP
Trooper Island is a free summer camp for underprivileged boys and girls ages 10-12 operated by the Kentucky State Police on Dale Hollow Lake in Clinton County. It is financed entirely by donations; no public funds are used. Each year the camp hosts approximately 700 children, providing good food, fresh air, recreation, guidance and structured esteem-building activities designed to build good citizenship and positive relationships with law enforcement officers. Verical eXcape Climbing Camp is designed to teach kids ages 5-13 about the basics of rock climbing and rappelling along with the important of trust and communication. Each daily session will focus on developing confidence and self-esteem through small group instruction, group climbing games, team-building activities, and goal setting sessions. Ages 5-13.
