Leading Ladies: Heather Heck
Story by Amelia Bowen
Aesthetic medicine was not where Glasgow native Heather Heck initially envisioned her nursing career taking her. After earning her nursing degree from Western Kentucky University and her Master’s as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University, she spent years in acute care hospital settings. Ready for a new direction, she discovered a field blending clinical experience with precision and artistry, leading her to establish Alora Aesthetics + Skincare in downtown Bowling Green. Taking the leap to build a boutique medical aesthetics practice from the ground up was one of the biggest risks of her career. Today, Heather leads her team in providing personalized treatments, including injectables, light therapies, micro needling, chemical peels, facials and regenerative care. As the practice continues to grow, Heather is expanding Alora into a brand new downtown facility, marking an exciting milestone for her business and the community. “My mission is to help people feel confident, cared for and comfortable investing in themselves,” Heather says. “I want to build a life and career that feels meaningful, stays true to who I am and leaves room for the people who matter most.” Balancing her role as owner and nurse practitioner with being a mother of two, Heather’s daily routine spans patient care, business decisions and pre-paring for Alora’s expansion. Over time, her definition of success has evolved from external accomplishments to cultivating a balanced life. Her leadership approach centers on leading by example, treating people well and fostering a supportive environment where her team feels valued. “Never be afraid to bet on yourself,” Heather says. “Work hard, stay grounded in your faith and trust that the right doors will open at the right time. Every season has a purpose, and expanding into this new space is a reflection of that trust.” Outside the practice, Heather recharges by exercising, working in her flower garden and spending time with her family. Deeply rooted in Bowling Green, she supports local causes like The Medical Center Charity Ball, The Fur Ball and area school fundraisers, while enjoying girls’ nights out on the patio at Gerard’s 1907 Tavern. “Bowling Green is where we are raising our family and where so many people have supported my business,” Heather says. “I love knowing the people I serve and giving back to the community that has given so much to us.”
